When the Heart Begins to Open, It May Hurt
The Heart is the only destination we need to focus upon in 2026..
I came across this short discourse from last year by my Master Guide, & Teacher Amun Min, and felt a deep need to share it with you, particularly because we are in the month to celebrate LOVE!
Omaat Dear Ones,
Understand, when you first begin to really feel what is within you, it shall feel painful. For your Heart is an energy centre that in many ways has not been allowed to express itself, so it has become out of condition if you choose. It is like walking up a hill for the first time, your muscles ache until you walk up that hill repeatedly.
So, when you open your Heart, you can often feel pain because it is not being allowed by your mind to exercise the regular experience and expression of love, so you need to consciously open your Hearts as a repeated practice, until it becomes your full purpose.
We cannot do this for you, and we do not wish to do this for you. We love you too much to do it for you, and in truth, you love yourselves too much not to eventually do it for yourselves.'

Old Grief & Buried Joy
There is a quiet truth that many on the spiritual path encounter but few are prepared for: when the Heart first begins to truly open, it can feel painful.
This pain is not a sign of failure, nor is it a signal to close again. It is a sign of reawakening.
As my guide Amun Min reminds us, the Heart is an energy centre that has, for many lifetimes and generations, been restrained, protected, and conditioned to survive rather than to feel. In a world that has prioritised the mind, being in control, and self-protection, the Heart has often been asked to remain silent. Over time, it has grown unused, much like muscles that have not been exercised.
When we begin to feel again—really feel—what has been stored within us, the sensations can be intense. Old grief, forgotten tenderness, unmet longing, and even buried joy can all rise at once. This can feel overwhelming, confusing, or even physically uncomfortable in the chest, shoulders, or breath.
The analogy offered is simple and profound: walking up a hill for the first time. The muscles ache not because something is wrong, but because something long dormant is being activated. With repetition, strength builds. What once felt exhausting becomes natural.
Why the Heart Resists at First
The mind often steps in to protect us. It may tell us that opening the Heart is unsafe, impractical, or too vulnerable. It may encourage us to analyse, distract, or withdraw. Yet the pain we feel when opening the Heart does not come from love itself—it comes from the resistance to love.
Love wants to move.
Love wants to be expressed.
Love wants to circulate.
When it is blocked, constrained or denied expression, stagnation occurs. And stagnation over time becomes discomfort and even disease.
This is why conscious, repeated Heart opening is essential. Not as a one-time spiritual event, but as a daily practice. Each time you choose compassion over judgment, presence over avoidance, truth over protection, you strengthen the Heart’s capacity to hold and express love.
The Sacred Responsibility of Self-Opening
One of the most powerful aspects of this channeled message from Amun Min is its clarity: no one can do this work for you.
And more importantly—no one should!
True love honours sovereignty. Guides, teachers, and higher beings may support, remind, and encourage us, but the act of opening must be chosen from within. This is not abandonment; it is profound respect for Self and the dissolving of Self Betrayal.
“You love yourselves too much not to eventually do it for yourselves.” -Min
This is a deep remembrance and at a Soul level you already know that the Heart is your true home. Even when the path feels uncomfortable, something within you understands that closing down again is not the answer.
A Gentle Practice
If you are feeling fear or discomfort as your Heart opens, try this:
- Place one hand on your chest
- Breathe slowly and deeply
- Silently say: “I allow my Heart to awaken at its own pace.”
- Do not force emotion—simply allow sensation
- Return to this practice often, even for just a few minutes a day
Consistency Matters
Heart-opening is not a destination; it is a devotion. A living, breathing relationship with yourself and with life. The ache you may feel at the beginning is not a wound—it is a stretching into your natural empowered state.
You are not broken.
You are becoming open to love again.
And with time, what once felt like effort becomes purpose.
